The distinctive blue and white painted exterior of this wonderfully authentic Portuguese home offers a delightful first impression, built in a U-shape around a central courtyard. From its elevated position in a small hamlet a few kilometres inland from the Algarve coast, the panoramic countryside views are breathtaking, enhanced by the thoughtful planting of olive, cypress and palm trees throughout the beautiful grounds. Pathways meander between the trees, a stunning new vista at every turn and a stroll through these magical gardens will reveal a wealth of handpicked plants and shrubs, from prickly cacti to swaying grasses, fragrant lavender to exotic succulents.

Beside the generously sized pool and sun terrace, two towering palm trees stand like sentinels, framing the view over the farmland below and out to the sea. A large adjacent annexe with pretty blue and white arches houses a fabulous living room and games room with a pool table and games console, all with floor to ceiling patio doors opening onto the terrace. There’s also a built-in barbecue and dining suite under the shade of a timber pergola, allowing guests to make the most of the enviable climate in comfort.

Up in the main house, the accommodation is spread across three floors. On the lower ground floor is the first of five large luxury bedrooms, each with a pretty en suite bath or shower room. Two more are located on the ground floor, with the remaining two on the first floor. Decorated throughout in the purest white, with soft cotton bedding and Portuguese terracotta and white tiles, these lovely rooms are havens of peace and tranquillity, most with French doors opening onto garden terraces or balconies.

As you explore the house, you’ll come across a range of endearing features, from a gently curving brick roof and outdoor fireplaces to timber-roofed verandas and oversized olive planters. The main lounge, kitchen and dining room boast a magnificent vaulted ceiling and graceful arched doorways, creating a cool and relaxing ambience. A large refectory table enables guests to sit down to supper together, with the fully fitted kitchen providing everything you could need to concoct your favourite recipes – or perhaps try your hand at some Algarve specialities.

Hop in the car for a short drive to the pretty village of Boliqueime or head towards the coast to explore the lovely resorts of Vilamoura, Olhos d’Agua and Albufeira. You’ll find an abundance of leisure facilities, golf courses, restaurants and shopping, not to mention some stunning beaches and water parks.
