YOUR DESTINATION GUIDE

With many millennia of history, Greece is generally considered the cradle of western civilisation. The 5th-century BC Acropolis in the capital of Athens is just one example of the many archaeological windows into the past found in Greece.

Outside of Athens, mainland Greece has some incredible sites of historic interest, such as Delphi and Olympia. The collection of orthodox monasteries built atop huge rock pillars at Meteora in central Greece is another memorable item for your travel bucket list.

Greece has thousands of islands scattered across the Aegean and Ionian Seas. From glitzy Santorini with its volcanic caldera to more remote and undeveloped islands like Milos in the Cyclades, the blue-and-white shaded Greek islands inspire holiday dreams for many travellers.

The summer period from July through August are very busy in Greece but many visitors like the quieter Spring and Autumn when the weather is still very pleasant.
